Weekly Roundup // 21.03.14

Calibre - Shelflife 3

So, the third instalment of Shelflife dropped this week, the tantalising prospect of it has been firmly lived up to with a 13 track CD of the usual unreleased productions from 1997 to 2013. The quality of the music on show and the very nature of it being released through fans almost demanding that certain unreleased tracks see the light of day is a testament to how much Calibre still has to offer dnb, past, present and future.

Grab the Vinyl, CD or MP3 from Surus now.

Dexta & Mauoq - Sluggapella

Something interesting from Different musics' pink giraffe this week. Dexta and Mauoq got in the studio last year and recorded an accapella version of their track Slugger that dropped on the Evolution of the Giraffe LP. The result is quite unlike anything else we are used to in the sphere that encapsulates drum and bass. Go and grab it for free from their Soundcloud page. Simply for it's uniqueness if nothing else!

Response - Fabriclive X Ingredients Mix

Off the back of his brilliant double 12"/EP last week, our best new producer from last year, Response, has gone and done a short but sweet mix for Fabric ahead of his set in room 3 next Friday. For the train spotters, new collab with ST Files, Wanna B 3 a particular highlight.

Blu Mar Ten Remix Competition

The prospect of a bunch of remixes from Blu Mar Ten's latest album is a mouth watering one for me. For budding producers out there, the chance to remix the Seba collaboration, Hunter, must be equally exciting. Don't expect the words generic or traditional to be associated with the winning effort but whoever does win will see their track featured alongside greats such as Ulterior Motive, Break, Frederic Robinson, Kid Drama, Anile and Nuage. Grab the stem parts and read full terms of the competitionhere.

  1. is the calibre album going to be available on vinyl ?? i only see the cd & digital for sale on surus.

    thanks for the heads up!!

  2. Yeah, the vinyl link went up a bit later than the CD/MP3. Weird!

    Grab it at

  3. Thanks. After a close listen I found this shelflife pretty disappointing in comparison to the 1st two volumes. Calibre's best productions were the sample based ones from 1999-2005. Unfortunately there are probably on 1 or 2 tracks from that era. I am still waiting for Spiritcatcher to drop.
